We tested the Weehoo iGo Two: cycling fun for the family
2017-08-16
For a family activity with your little ones, Bouge Petit is guaranteed fun! And for those summer days when you want to enjoy the outdoors by bike, we tested the "Weehoo iGo Two" trailer for you!
At first glance, you should notice its unique design, a look that will turn heads as you pass by. This two-seater trailer can seat your two little ones. It easily adapts to any bike. In short, it allows an adult to go on a bike ride with two little ones who will be amazed!
We received the Weehoo in its original box. Assembly takes about 2 hours. The instructions are simple and the parts are easy to screw together. You will need to have your screwdrivers on hand as no wrench is included in the box. Only a small flat washer that was not in the instructions gave us pause, but we installed it with the mudguard screw.
It is interesting to note that it is not necessary to install both seats. The seats and footrests can be installed anywhere along the stem. Note the functional pedal system for the child sitting in the front to help mom or dad during the ride (or not, in our tests our little one opted for a "free ride" of dad's calves!). There are 2 storage bags on the back of the Weehoo and a storage net on the back of each seat. Kids also have access to a cup holder on the armrest.
Connecting the Weehoo to the bike is incredibly simple. There are 6 adapters of different sizes to allow installation on your seat post. You had to think of that! So if you want to change bikes, it's a breeze. In our test, the only drawback with installing the Weehoo was that we had to remove the luggage rack installed on the bike, as it rubbed against the Weehoo's hitch bar.
Now for the real test: seating the kids for a ride! For our test, we sat our 3-year-old in the front and our 2-year-old in the back. Both were curious and excited about the thing. The footrests help ensure your little ones' legs stay in the vehicle at all times. Note that you'll need a wall or someone to hold your bike and the Weehoo upright while you install the kids, because frankly, this few-meter-long train is not easy to handle at rest! Don't forget your little ones' helmets :)
Let's go! Go! Weeeeeeehoooooooo! Only a few pedal strokes will make you realize that you've made an incredible investment in this thing. If your little ones, eager to leave, were crying before your departure, you can be sure that they will stop within the first seconds of your ride.
Unlike a traditional trailer such as a Chariot, the Weehoo is relatively light and does not catch in the wind. Although this road train is quite long, we had no problem maneuvering it on all types of terrain in Montreal. The only recommendation is to avoid quick and angled turns, because sometimes the Weehoo can have a pendulum effect on your bike. Even so, the Weehoo's attachment adapts well to your driving.
And the kids? They were speechless! At one point, the youngest even fell asleep in his seat. They have an incredible view and point left and right non-stop. They are not crammed in like sardines and they appreciated it!
The Weehoo iGo Two is not cheap, however. In Canada, it retails for around $870. If you only have one child, note that there is a single-seater model, the Weehoo iGo Turbo, retailing for $600.
In conclusion, is the Weehoo iGo Two worth the price? We think so. We've noticed that even a used Weehoo sells for almost the same price as a new one. Another advantage is that the Weehoo is good for children between 2 and 9 years old, so you can use it for several long years. The maximum weight supported by the Weehoo iGo Two is around 80 pounds, so your children will be able to eat several crusts before outgrowing its capacity.
Enjoy the summer with your family and on your bike!
